CONCEPT NOTE

I always felt urban life is like a bunch of lonesome living together without even the knowledge of the subsistence of the other. Accelerating urbanization is powerfully affecting the transformation of the society today. The cities always have sessions day and night, most of which are all left vague. Congestion, noise, traffic jams, air pollution, and major shortages of key necessities characterize urban life. Every growing city faces the same proliferating problems of grossly inadequate housing, transportation, sewerage, electric power, water supplies, schools, and hospitals. Slums and jumbles of pavement dwellers' lean-tos constantly multiply. With its king size ugliness, we see how every day new cities are born and when the forms exhaust their variety and come apart, the end of cities begins.
Living in cities today is an art, and we need the vocabulary of art, of style, to describe the peculiar relationship between man and material that exists in the continual creative play of urban living. The city as we imagine it, then, soft city of illusion, myth, aspiration, and nightmare, is as real, maybe more real, than the hard city one can locate on maps in statistics, in monographs on urban sociology and demography and architecture. That is what my work URBAN PLAN talks about. In my works I take to articulate my outlook towards what and how the death-defying roots of urban and city life is slithering into the lives of human beings. In my works, urban living, and society are the main issues that I put to the lime light. I use idioms like bricks, iron rods, topographical plans to express my revulsion towards the urbanization of the rural areas and make them all barren. Through the work URBAN ROOTS, I try to express the jam-packed, claustrophobic buildings that erect up our neighborhood, that to get a glimpse of the sky above would be easier said than done. In the works, I take a in-flight view, the type we see in Google earth, clogging being the underlying idea. The iron boundary the plants on the road have gives me sensation of the plant being caged in the palms of urbanization and the urban roots slowly penetrating deep in the soil. Bricks, I would treat them as the seeds for the growth of repulsive and sordid cities. Iron rods too give a chimera of a tree trunk. URBAN TREE is the faultless demonstration of the mechanized tree that just fits into the urban life today where we have dearth of nature and what surrounds us would be the ugly materials that give birth to more and more cities. The URBAN NEST is a work where I express my reluctance towards the multistoried buildings that are born every second day, making places more crammed. Cities and urban life are like match boxes, where men, hurrying to find one another, have lost themselves. UNDER CONSTRUCTION shows how comfortably man is sitting through the hazardous manufacturing of the city. To make for ourselves a better place for living a superlative life we barely realize the long fissure we have created between us and nature by falling trees to make our havoc residence. And the major criminal in the creation of such massive destructiveness are the ruthless human beings who sit back in their cozy seat chartering to things and thus the creeping roots of urban life pushing our life into the bleak.

Since from last four years I have been working with print media like etching, wood-cut, dry point, aquatint, engraving in wood.’ Lines’ are very important element of my work, I used to build the images through varies lines. Further I wish to continue with mix media prints, and drawings which compiles the printmaking techniques along with paper pulp, photo collage, construction of wires etc.
